PartyToon Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
PartyToon turns the people in a group photo into illustrations while the person you choose stays exactly as photographed. This policy explains what happens to your photos and any other data.
Who we are: PartyToon is made by Wenxuan Zhou, United States. Contact: partytoon.app@gmail.com.
The short version
- Your photo is sent for processing only after you agree in the app, and only when you tap Toonify.
- It goes through our server to AI/ML API, which runs Google's Gemini image model to paint the scene.
- We don't keep your photos, and we don't run ads, analytics or tracking.
- Purchases are handled by Apple; we never see your payment details.
What happens on your iPhone
- Finding faces and cutting you out happen entirely on your iPhone, using Apple's Vision framework and an on-device model (SAM 2.1). These steps don't upload anything.
- The finished picture is shown in the app and is only saved where you choose (for example, your Photos library) or shared where you choose.
- Photo access: you pick photos with Apple's photo picker, so the app only sees the photos you select. To save results, the app asks for permission to add to your Photos library; it doesn't read your library.
What leaves your iPhone, and why
When you tap Toonify, and only after you've agreed in the consent screen:
| Data | Sent to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| The photo you picked, resized to at most 1600 pixels (everyone in it is visible) | Our server, then AI/ML API, then Google | To paint the illustrated version |
| Text instructions describing the style and roughly where your face is in the photo | Same | To tell the model what to paint and whom to leave out |
| A random device ID created by the app | Our server only | To apply a daily usage limit per phone |
| Your IP address (as with any internet request) | Our server and its host, Cloudflare | Delivering the request; a daily usage limit per IP address |
The photo's location and camera details are not sent: the app sends a newly encoded copy, not the original file. (We checked this: a test photo carrying GPS coordinates and camera details was uploaded with neither.)
Our server (Cloudflare)
Our server is a small program on Cloudflare Workers. It holds our API key, checks requests, and forwards the photo to AI/ML API.
- It does not store your photo. It passes the photo straight through and forgets it.
- Usage limits: it keeps a count of requests per device ID, per IP address and in total, for the current day (UTC). The counts are deleted when the next day begins.
- Cloudflare, as our host, processes requests under its own privacy policy: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/
AI/ML API and Google
AI/ML API (aimlapi.com) receives the photo and the instructions and has Google's Gemini image model paint the scene. What they keep, and for how long, is governed by their own terms:
- AI/ML API's privacy policy: https://aimlapi.com/privacy-policy. AI/ML API states in its help centre that request data is not used for training or fine-tuning, and may be reviewed for service improvement and security purposes.
- Google processes the request on AI/ML API's behalf, under the terms between Google and AI/ML API.
Other people in your photos
Your photo shows other people, and their faces are sent to the AI too. Please only use photos that the people in them are comfortable with. PartyToon keeps the person you tap as their real self and paints everyone else.
Purchases
PartyToon sells photo credits through Apple's in-app purchase. Apple processes the payment; we never see your card or Apple ID details. The app receives a transaction record from Apple to add your credits.
Your credit balance and the random device ID are stored in your iPhone's Keychain, on your device. They're not tied to your name, email or Apple ID.
What we don't do
- No accounts or sign-in.
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking across apps or websites, and we don't sell data.
- No storing of your photos or results on our servers.
Children
PartyToon is not directed at children under 13. Parents may use their own photos of their children; those photos are handled as described above.
Your choices
- Withdraw permission: tap the Privacy (hand) button on the start screen and withdraw. Nothing is uploaded afterwards unless you agree again.
- Delete data on your phone: delete the app. Credits and the device ID in the Keychain may remain on the device until you erase it, which is how the app avoids giving free credits again on reinstall.
- Questions or requests: contact partytoon.app@gmail.com. Since we don't store your photos, there is usually nothing on our side to delete; for data held by AI/ML API or Google, we'll help you reach them.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is shared or with whom, the app will ask for your permission again before uploading.
